Location

Puerto de la Cruz is both a city and the smallest municipality of Tenerife, with only 8.7 km2, situated on the north coast of the island, 25 minutes from the northern airport of Los Rodeos and La Laguna, and 30 minutes from the capital Santa Cruz.
Its prime location within the Orotava Valley, between Mount Teide and the Atlantic Ocean, made it the first place where tourism started in the Canary Islands, back in the 19th century. The first foreign visitors from privileged minorities quickly felt attracted by its welcoming climate.
Puerto de la Cruz perfectly combines Canarian tradition and culture with contemporary modernity. Whilst the historic old town stands out for its beautiful squares, traditional architecture and old fishing harbour, the long seafront promenade offers all modern facilities including a multitude of shops and shopping centres, a variety of bars and restaurants, and a wide range of leisure activities of all kinds.
